Hockey Director

Jim Donohue, a lifelong hockey player, coach, and mentor, brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the development of young athletes.

A New Haven, CT native, Donohue's hockey journey began at an early age, playing Tier I hockey from Squirt through Midget with the former Greater New Haven Youth Hockey Organization. He continued at the high school level, competing in Division I hockey for Notre Dame High School in West Haven, CT, before advancing to play Division I varsity hockey at the University of Connecticut.

Donohue graduated from UConn with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and dedicated 38 years to the university's Athletic Department as Assistant Athletic Director for Development. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to fostering young talent in the sport of hockey.

With over 40 years of coaching and instructional experience, Donohue has played an integral role in youth hockey development. He previously served as an assistant coach at UConn and has been a key figure at ECHO, coaching for 14 seasons-13 of which were at the Bantam level. A USA Hockey Level 4 Coach, Donohue continues to contribute to the sport, currently coaching Bantam hockey and serving as an Assistant Coach for the Northeast Shamrocks high school team.

We are thrilled to welcome Jim Donohue as our new Hockey Director. His extensive background in player development, coaching, and mentorship aligns perfectly with our mission to provide a strong and positive hockey experience for our players.

In his new role, Donohue will oversee all hockey operations including the ECHO Stars youth hockey program. His leadership will help continue Bolton Ice Palace's tradition of excellence in youth hockey and its growth.
